Life Is Undivided

We read Matthew 11:28-9 in our Call to Confession today at church, an interesting and cool choice for thinking about confessing sin. Sin and other people's sin become such heavy burdens, wearying, and Jesus is GENTLE and HUMBLE in heart. I want to have those qualities and receive them from the Lord, as I want people in my life who share these amazing qualities. God says "give me your failure, guilt, shame, pain and receive rest for your soul". And today, I have wept for joy, not sorrow. Gratitude has replaced pain somehow, and HE HAS MADE ME GLAD. Give us contrite hearts.

I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Horatius Bonar 1846--not the first song of his I've quoted here..)

1. I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, O weary one lay down,
Your head upon My breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was,
So weary, worn and sad;
I found in Him my resting place,
And He has made me glad.

2. I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Behold I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
Stoop down and drink, and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank
From that life-giving stream
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.

3. I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
And all thy days be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In Him my star, my sun;
And in that light of life I’ll walk
’Til pilgrim days are done.

God help me to make sure that I seek/worship You alone and not put my hope in any human.
